One of my favourite shops to browse in is Roche Bobois on 10th Ave SW.  The designs are equisite and the selection and service are second-to-none.

It doesn't hurt that the showroom is located in an amazing "loft" space with concrete floors, brick and open ceilings.  I'm a bit of a geek I know, but sometimes it's just nice to appreciate the space along with the wares - it makes for a pleasea ...
